About these terms

By creating an account, sending through a sift.mx address, paying a cover, or otherwise using sift.mx, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you use sift.mx for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind it. You are responsible for accurate account information, securing your email account and authentication factors, and activity under your sift.mx account.

Creating a sift.mx account and receiving email through sift.mx are free and will remain free. Optional sender payments and other clearly identified paid features are separate.

Aliases and forwarding

sift.mx gives recipients a public alias that forwards permitted messages to a verified private destination. You may set a cover amount and create rules that allow, charge, or block senders. You may not claim an alias deceptively, impersonate another person, or use an alias you are not authorized to control.

A sift.mx address is a forwarding service, not a permanent mailbox or an archival store. Keep access to your destination inbox and do not rely on sift.mx as the only copy of an important message.

Sender covers and recipient credits

When a recipient requires a cover, the sender may choose whether to pay. Payment authorizes sift.mx to attempt delivery of that held message; it does not require the recipient to read, answer, accept, or act on it.

Once settlement is confirmed, the recipient receives sift.mx credits less the platform fee. The standard platform fee is currently 5% of the cover. Credits are account units for use within sift.mx; they are not a bank deposit, security, stored-value account, or government currency.

Cash withdrawals are not currently available. A recipient cannot presently redeem credits for cash or require sift.mx to pay their balance outside the service. We will publish separate terms before enabling any withdrawal feature.

Purchases, fees, and refunds

Stripe processes card purchases. Prices and credit amounts are shown before checkout. Taxes, currency conversion, bank fees, or other third-party charges may apply depending on your location and payment method.

Except where required by law, a cover is final after payment settles and sift.mx begins the delivery attempt. Duplicate or unauthorized charges should be reported promptly to hello@sift.mx. Chargebacks, reversals, fraud, or processing errors may result in corresponding credit-balance adjustments.

Acceptable use

You may not use sift.mx to:

• Send spam, phishing, malware, unlawful content, threats, harassment, or deceptive payment requests.
• Evade sender rules, rate limits, authentication checks, account restrictions, or technical safeguards.
• Scrape aliases, probe accounts, interfere with delivery, or overload the service.
• Infringe privacy, intellectual-property, publicity, or other legal rights.
• Use credits, payments, or accounts for fraud, money laundering, self-dealing, or artificial transactions.
• Reverse engineer or exploit the service except where applicable law expressly permits it.

Email and service limitations

Email delivery is not guaranteed. Messages can be rejected, delayed, quarantined, misclassified, expired, or lost because of authentication failures, sender or recipient rules, provider outages, attachment limits, abuse controls, payment failure, destination filtering, or events outside our control.

You are responsible for deciding whether sift.mx is appropriate for confidential, regulated, time-sensitive, safety-critical, or legally-required communications. sift.mx is not end-to-end encrypted or zero-knowledge; read our Security page before forwarding sensitive material.

Third-party services

sift.mx depends on providers including Cloudflare, Neon, Stripe, and optionally Google sign-in. Their services may be unavailable, changed, or subject to separate terms. sift.mx is not responsible for a third party’s independent products, conduct, or availability.

Ownership and feedback

sift.mx and its software, design, branding, and documentation are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms grant only the limited right to use the service. You retain rights in messages and other content you provide and grant sift.mx permission to process that content only as needed to operate, secure, and support the service.

If you send product feedback, you permit us to use it without restriction or compensation, while we remain responsible for handling any personal information under our Privacy Policy.

Suspension and termination

We may limit, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, fraud, security risk, legal requirements, nonpayment, technical harm, or a material breach of these terms. We may preserve transaction and security records after termination as described in the Privacy Policy.

You may stop using sift.mx and request account deletion by contacting us. Ending an account does not reverse settled covers, remove obligations that arose earlier, or require deletion of records we must reasonably retain.

Service changes and disclaimers

We may improve, replace, limit, or discontinue features. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes when practical. The core promise that accounts and receiving email are free does not prevent us from offering optional paid features.

To the extent permitted by law, sift.mx is provided “as is” and “as available,” without promises of uninterrupted operation, guaranteed delivery, guaranteed spam prevention, earnings, or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or responsibilities that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will post the revised terms with a new effective date and provide additional notice when appropriate. Questions, support requests, and legal notices can be sent to hello@sift.mx.
